03 / Turn your favourites into a day.

Turn your favourites into a day.

The existing 48-hour plan remains below. For shopping and entertainment, use one of these lighter area pairings instead of adding every district to a single day.

Style & K-beauty

Choose Myeongdong OR Seongsu for the main shopping session. Add one meal and one café nearby; keep COEX for another half-day.

K-pop & west-Seoul play

Hongdae shops → a booked class or gaming visit → Yeonnam café walk. HiKR is a separate central-Seoul stop, not in Hongdae.

Hanbok & royal Seoul

One palace → Anguk lunch → a short Bukchon or Ikseon-dong walk. Check the palace closure and Bukchon visitor hours first.

Art & a slower afternoon

Choose Seocho’s Seoul Arts Center OR Leeum in Hannam. Build lunch and a café around your actual exhibition ticket.

04 / Explore your 48 hours

Two days. Two sides of Seoul.

An editorial plan for two full days after arrival. Times and walking allowances are estimates, not reservations. Choose fewer stops if you arrive late.

Day 1 · Palaces & lanes

Allow roughly 4–6 km on foot across the full day, plus station walking. Bukchon has slopes; use taxis or skip that stop for a lighter route.

2

12:00–14:00

Anguk lunch & a quiet Bukchon walk

Eat first, then choose a short residential lane. The red-zone visiting window is 10:00–17:00. Keep voices low and leave private doorways clear.

Walking & transfers
From the palace’s east side allow 20–30 minutes toward Anguk, then 15–25 minutes uphill depending on your lane.

4

17:00–19:00

Market dinner & a short stream walk

Choose a cooked meal at Gwangjang Market and confirm the total price first. Add a short Cheonggyecheon section only if weather and access are suitable.

Walking & transfers
Allow 20–35 minutes on foot or use a live transit route from Jongno 3-ga to Jongno 5-ga. Return from Jongno 5-ga on Line 1.

Day 2 · Forest & city life

Allow roughly 3–5 km on foot with breaks. The final DDP stop is optional; enjoy a longer Seongsu dinner instead if you prefer.

3

14:30–16:30

One experience, or a café pause

Choose a beauty appointment only after confirming its exact address, language and booking. Otherwise enjoy the same neighbourhood without another transfer.

Walking & transfers
This pin is the Seongsu area, not a selected studio. Replace the stop with the address in your booking confirmation.

4

17:30–19:30

Optional finale · Dongdaemun Design Plaza

Enjoy the architecture and dinner nearby. Exhibitions and events have separate entry conditions; the photo is an archive daytime view.

Walking & transfers
Line 2 · Seongsu → Dongdaemun History & Culture Park on the Wangsimni-bound side. Allow 35–50 minutes door to door including waiting and station walking.

Before choosing your dates

Gyeongbokgung is normally closed Tuesdays, with public-holiday exceptions. Check the official calendar. If closed, use Changdeokgung only after checking its own Monday closure and any separate garden booking. Bukchon’s restricted residential zone permits tourist visits 10:00–17:00.

Useful when a current airport-bus stop is close to your hotel. Search your destination on the airport’s official bus guide, check the terminal boarding point, and allow for road traffic.

03

Taxi or a prebooked transfer

Consider this for heavy luggage or a late arrival. Use the signed official taxi rank or confirm your booked driver’s meeting point, vehicle size and total fare. Central Seoul sightseeing does not need a rental car.

Plan your hotel connection ↗

In Seoul: save your accommodation address in Korean, check your transit-card balance and verify the last connection for your actual travel date. For luggage storage, confirm location, size limits and collection hours before leaving bags.

06 / Let a meal lead the way.

SEOUL · FLIGHT

Before booking: can this day actually work?

This is a Seoul food-and-shopping day designed with Japanese visitors in mind, not a verified statistic about what all Japanese travellers prefer. “12 hours” refers to a short visit concept, not a promise that Tokyo → Incheon → Tokyo takes 12 hours door to door. Japan and Korea share the same time zone. A 22:00 flight departs Incheon at 22:00; landing in Tokyo may be on the next calendar day.

A 07:00 Anguk start requires an overnight/very early flight, completed entry procedures and a working airport transfer. Do not equate the aircraft landing time with arrival in Seoul. Check your specific flight date, Tokyo airport (Haneda or Narita), Incheon terminal, passport/entry requirements and return boarding deadline before paying. No fixed flight number or guaranteed connection is sold by this guide.

For the example 22:00 departure, our editorial planning target is to be in the correct Incheon terminal by 19:00. Finish Seoul shopping around 16:30 and aim to leave the Seoul Station area around 17:00, using the actual rail schedule. This is a generous planning allowance, not your airline’s check-in rule. Peach, for example, publishes international check-in 120–50 minutes before departure; other carriers differ. Never plan to arrive at the final closing minute.

SEOUL · TRANSPORT

Airport, city transfers & the return

AREX connects Incheon Airport and Seoul Station. Express and all-stop trains are different services; select T1 or T2 correctly and check first trains, travel times, fare and reserved departure on the official operator site. Very early arrivals may need to wait for service or compare an official airport bus/taxi. Buy one transport card per traveller, load a usable balance and keep a cash top-up backup. Airport rail tickets and local-card products are not automatically interchangeable.

Anguk → Myeongdong: compare Line 3 to Chungmuro, then Line 4, against a direct quoted taxi. Myeongdong → Seongsu: walk to the correct Line 2 station at Euljiro 1-ga if practical, then go toward Seongsu. Seongsu → Gwangjang: compare the live Line 2/Line 1 connection via Sindang/Dongmyo with a quoted taxi. Gwangjang → Seoul Station: Line 1 from Jongno 5-ga is a useful return direction. These are route options, not fixed minute promises; include station walking, transfer and queues.

Onion Anguk is at 5 Gyedong-gil (계동길 5). VISITKOREA describes a restored 1920s hanok and lists weekdays 07:00–22:00, weekends 09:00–22:00. Pandoro is among its bakery choices. 09:30 is a breakfast target, not a promise that all shops are open. Choose Myeongdong hamburger/toast stalls or a correctly identified Isaac Toast branch; vendors and hours vary. Porridge is a seated alternative: jeonbok-juk (abalone) or samgye-juk (chicken/ginseng) if on that shop’s menu. Show the actual menu, ask for the full price and choose one meal rather than trying every breakfast.

OLIVE YOUNG Myeongdong Global Town is at 53 Myeongdong-gil, distinct from the Myeongdong Station branch. Its official visitor site lists 10:00–22:30. DAISO Myeongdong Station is at 134-1 Toegye-ro, distinct from the Myeongdong Main branch at 43 Myeongdong-gil. The “12-floor Daiso” description is a visitor lead; use the current floor directory rather than assuming every floor sells cosmetics. Pick two priority stores and save a product/shade list before arrival.

READY YOUNG is a pharmacy brand, separate from Olive Young. Its brand directory lists the Myeongdong flagship at 36 Myeongdong 10-gil, 10:00–00:30. Ask the pharmacist which items are cosmetics and which are medicines; do not choose a medicine solely from a social-media recommendation. WIGGLE WIGGLE.ZIP Myeongdong is a colourful lifestyle-shop option; its brand directory gives 24 Myeongdong 8ga-gil. HBAF almonds are a snack purchase; check flavour, allergens and bag weight. “ZZANG games” is an optional arcade lead: verify the actual branch in your live map and skip it if it eats the return buffer.

Neungdong Minari (능동미나리) is the lunch candidate: choose the actual Seongsu branch, then check its current menu and queue. Minari beef soup is a cooked-meal option if offered; yukhoe is raw beef, so it is not an interchangeable soup topping. The free omija drink reported by a visitor is not independently confirmed as a current offer. Confirm any complimentary drink with staff and pay attention to meal price, portions and add-ons. If the queue exceeds your planned lunch slot, use another nearby cooked meal.

13:00 is a fashion-shopping target. Choose two stops rather than four queues: MUSINSA Store Seongsu@Daelim Warehouse (74 Seongsu-i-ro) is different from MUSINSA STANDARD and the newer megastore; use its official location page. fwee AGIT Seongsu’s own page lists 10 Seongsu-i-ro 7ga-gil, 11:00–21:00. Save the product name and shade before testing; each pop-up has separate dates and entry conditions.

NYUNYU’s official channel distinguishes its Seongsu store at 89 Yeonmujang-gil from NYUNYU HOUSE Seongsu Station at 93 Seongsu-i-ro. Matin Kim is the correct brand spelling, not “Martin Kim”; use the current official stockist list because former addresses and shop-in-shops can differ. Ask about sizes, fitting, receipts and return conditions before paying. A Korean online account or local phone number may be required for some launch events; a walk-in purchase is not guaranteed.

Gwangjang Market is at 88 Changgyeonggung-ro; Jongno 5-ga on Line 1 is useful for the final return toward Seoul Station. Try one or two snacks: chapssal kkwabaegi (sticky-rice twisted doughnut), tteokbokki or bindaetteok (mung-bean pancake). Confirm per-piece versus plate prices, order size and cash/card acceptance before eating. Queues and individual stall hours differ. Kimchi or sesame oil are purchases to pack carefully, not necessarily extra meals.

Jinokhwa Halmae Wonjo Dakhanmari is a separate Dongdaemun chicken-alley meal at 18 Jongno 40ga-gil, not a Gwangjang stall. Choose it instead of a long market tasting, allowing extra walking, queue, cooking and a full sit-down meal. On a tight airport day, do not promise both a slow chicken meal and every market snack. Use one shared Korean ordering guide rather than repeating identical phrases at every shop.

Lotte Mart ZETTAPLEX Seoul Station is the last-stop grocery option near your airport rail return. Its current global store page lists 10:00–23:00 and a 14 October 2026 closure; always check your date. Budget only a short shopping slot, then collect bags and walk to the correct AREX platform. Pepero, packaged biscuits and HBAF almonds travel more easily than refrigerated banana milk or Biyott yogurt: eat chilled purchases promptly and follow their label storage instructions.

Seoul’s official tourism guide describes tax refund and international parcel services here. Confirm the current counter, destination acceptance, cutoff, rates, prohibited goods and delivery time in person; international shipping is not necessarily free. Currency exchange and “free lockers for three hours” are unverified current visitor leads in this plan, not guaranteed amenities. Do not leave luggage without reading the posted conditions and setting a retrieval alarm. Keep station lockers as a paid backup; capacity is not guaranteed.

SEOUL · PACKING

Pack the purchases before the airport

Keep receipts and passport accessible for any eligible tax refund; the seller and scheme determine eligibility and handling. A tax-refund shop is not a guarantee that every purchase qualifies. Separate medicine, cosmetics and food, and check your airline’s total cabin weight and checked-bag allowance before a shopping-heavy day.

Incheon’s international carry-on rule uses container capacity: liquids, gels and sprays must be in individual containers of 100 ml or less inside one transparent resealable 1 L bag per person. Larger skin-care bottles, sesame oil, kimchi liquid or yogurt do not become acceptable simply because partly used. Plan checked baggage where allowed. For Japan, consult MAFF’s actual animal/plant quarantine guidance before buying souvenirs; meat-containing products can be restricted even when sealed or sold at the airport. Dairy passenger-baggage rules differ from meat rules.

Seoul became the Joseon capital in 1394. Its royal-palace precincts, traditional streets and modern commercial areas sit beside one another, but their entry conditions differ. Gyeongbokgung, Changdeokgung, Changgyeonggung, Deoksugung and Jongmyo belong to separate visits, not an extra hour added to every shopping stop. Follow the existing palace guide for the correct calendar, tickets and any reserved tour.

For a heritage day, choose one palace plus Anguk/Insadong, replacing Seongsu and most shopping. For a longer stay, use the existing Myeongdong–Hongdae–Gangnam walks, Namsan Tower, Cheonggyecheon and Hangang guides. Bukchon is a residential area with designated visitor restrictions; follow current signs and avoid entering restricted lanes at dawn. This hub links the existing detailed pages instead of creating duplicate destination articles.

SEOUL · STAYS

If the timetable fails: stay rather than rush

Myeongdong suits cosmetics and central meals; Jongno/Anguk suits palace and café days; Seoul Station suits an early rail connection; an airport-area stay suits an early outbound flight. Select the exact property, reception hours and airport connection before booking. If the arrival is delayed, keep Myeongdong plus one food stop and the airport return, or change the trip to an overnight stay according to your ticket terms. Do not assume a missed flight can be rebooked for free.
